Christmas Update

Hello everyone!

Well, Christmas was awesome. I went down to Iowa to see my family all last week. It was nice to get to see everyone. There is nothing better than being with family during the holiday season. The week pretty much consisted of cooking, baking, laughing, movie watching (lots of classics), eating, and hugging.

Christmas Eve we ate homemade Egg-fu Yung, Chicago-style Chicken Chow Mein, and Egg Rolls. Yum! And of course we also watched "It's a Wonderful Life" and "The Bishop's Wife". I hadn't seen the latter. It was a really good movie. Although, I never got to watch "White Christmas".

Christmas Day was hectic and had very odd scheduling. Since we were expecting 20 people over for dinner my Mom, Dad, and I were scrambling around cooking and setting things up. We opened presents around 3pm...definitely a first for me. I got totally spoiled by my family! My favorite gift is probably my new cookbook, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" by Louisette Bertholle, Simone Beck and Julia Child. I can't wait to start cooking out of it. I just finished reading the introduction written by Julia Child, the foreword, a note from the books original editor at Knopf (Judith Jones), and many quotes regarding the importance of the book. I've just started in on the chapter on Kitchen Equipment. Should be an interesting read!

Since getting back to Minnesota I haven't really done too much. I'm catching up on sleep and awaiting the New Year. January should be a busy month for me. I need to find a part-time job, apply for internships, and get my portfolio ready for a transfer review in the art department. Wish me luck! Thankfully my next semester doesn't start until February.
