"This Side of Paradise"

I just got done reading "This Side of Paradise" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. In this book the reader follows the life of Amory Blaine. He is born from wealth and is an egotist, materialistic, not connected to reality, and a know-it-all intellectual. Fitzgerald does a very good job of capturing the reader and making Amory a multi-faceted character. Throughout I found myself in-between liking Amory and completely hating him. At points I felt deep sympathy for him. While I enjoyed the writing style, the characters, and progression of the story, I couldn't help but feel a little short-handed after finishing the last page. It almost seems unfinished or as if Fitzgerald simply did not want to spend more time on Amory. Perhaps my feelings are this way towards the ending because I so badly wanted Amory to have some sort of direction or happy event occur in his life.

Anyways, I really recommend this book. If you love books that look deeply into human interactions and the complex development of an individual, or simply love literature that is focused around the 1920s, this book is for you.

I'm thinking of starting Sherlock Holmes or another Jane Austen book. Suggestions?
